Companies need new leadership capability to survive in the complex, global environment, where economic, social, environmental and social sustainability requires transformational change. Recent research shows that the skills for courageous action are embedded in the development of an ecological world-view, anchored with significant life experiences that generate nature centric self-awareness that can be translated into organizational strategy. I have been offering these development opportunities in required courses in communication and leadership at Presidio Graduate School for the last 5 years. The approaches include: building emotional intelligence, creating and sustaining team performance, peer coaching and journaling to raise resilience and agility, refinement of personal leadership narrative and engaging in crucial conversations.
